About me
I’m a writer and researcher working on politics and culture in and around East Asia. I’m currently completing a Ph.D. at NYU, where I focus on modern Chinese/Sinophone literature and intellectual history.
My essays and op-eds have been published in Public Books, Commonweal, The New Inquiry, Protean, Strange Horizons, and Foreign Policy, among other outlets. I have broad writing and research interests, spanning cultural and literary criticism, international relations, human rights, and more.
Outside of my writing and academic work, I’m also affiliated with the Hong Kong Democracy Council, a nonprofit which focuses on research and policy advocacy related to Hong Kong’s democracy movement.
I received my M.A. from Georgetown and my B.A. from Williams. I’m originally from California, and have also spent time in New York City, D.C., Hong Kong, and a variety of places in the northeastern United States.
